Limits & troubleshooting¶
A few limits keep the service fast and fair for everyone:

If you run into the file size or route length limit, the usual fix is to split your route into shorter sections and create a separate map for each.
"Too many requests" errors¶
Map creation, favorites, Get details, and route distance lookups are all rate-limited per visitor to keep things fair. If you hit one after a burst of activity in a short time, the page shows raw text along the lines of {"error": "Rate limit reached: ..."} instead of a proper error page. That wording is generic and shows up for any of these limits, not just one specific feature. Just wait a few minutes and try again. Get details and route distance are also capped site-wide, not just per person, so they can occasionally be unavailable during a busy stretch even if you personally haven't used them much. For route distance this just means the popup keeps showing the beeline distance only, same as described in Distance.
Map not found¶
Since maps are deleted automatically after 6 months, a saved or shared link that no longer opens has most likely just aged out. Recreate it from the original GPX file or coordinates and you're back in business.
